Found this site searching for “pattern recognition”.
I frequently fail to percieve the item sought even though it is within my visual field. This has caused at least one significant car collision. In computer games I often blank when searching for the identical image to one I see, even when there are only a few images left. I wonder if there is an explanation for this attribute, or at least a name for it.
Also I have great difficulty recognizing faces.
