Google launches OpenSocial, a set of common tools/API’s for existing social networking sites that allow them to talk to each other and exchange information. For librarians: think of this like…a new metadata standard that allows MySpace to talk to Facebook. Potentially.
Brilliant, revolutionary, and potentially genre-busting. We’ll see who decides to implement it, but it won’t take much for it to be a defacto standard among networks.
