Cleaning out the fridge…
So in our seemingly never-ending quest to eat the remainder of the food in our possession before we move, I present to you Jason’s Back of the Fridge Stir Fry:
Ingredients
Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast or Tenders
Frozen Broccoli
Mixed Frozen Veggies
Dash of Oil
Peanut Butter
Chef Morimoto Sesame Soy Sauce
Chef Morimoto Chili Miso Sauce
White Rice
One Egg
Dried Shitake Mushrooms
Cornstarch or Arrowroot
Procedure
Boil or Steam Rice, and allow to cool for several minutes. Beat egg, and fold into rice. Heat oil in a pan, and fry the rice while folding in 3-4 tablespoons of Morimoto Sesame Soy Sauce. Season with Salt or more Soy Sauce. Set aside.
Clean pan (we’re so packed, that we’ve only the one pan). Soak the dried mushrooms in about 1/2 cup of hot water. Stir fry the chicken, mushrooms and veggies with just a touch of the Sesame Soy. Reserve the water from the mushrooms.
When the chicken is done, remove the stir fry from the pan and deglaze with the water from the mushrooms (minus a tablespoon), 2 tablespoons soy,
3 tablespoons of the Chili Miso. Add 1/4 cup of peanut butter or so, and stir ’til dissolved. Make a slurry of the cornstarch and the left over water, and stir in slowly to thicken the sauce.
Make a base of the fried rice, add the stir fry, and spoon liberally with sauce. Enjoy.

News from the front lines
So I return from Origins, a refreshed but slightly disheveled man, and am hit in the face with the fact that we’ve TWO WEEKS ’til the move. To be fair, I think we’ve done a pretty amazing job getting the packing done (there’s ALWAYS stuff to do, but we’re getting there). The goal right now is to try and get everything packed this week, so that we can just enjoy next week hanging out with friends.
In other news, still no job offers (I’ve applied to a half dozen or more in the area).

I am a cable god
So yesterday, Betsy and I chose to tackle the attic, in hopes of finding things that we’d stored for two years and never used that we could simply throw away (we figure, if we haven’t wanted it in two years, we probably don’t need it).
Among the boxes and boxes were three boxes full of cables. Audio cables, video cables, power cords for computers (total count: 12) and more SCSI cables than you can shake a stick at. I’ve got IDC50 cables, DB25 cables, CN50 cables, and even an HD68 or two. Why do I have so many SCSI cables?
I have no idea.
But you need one, or need a power cable for a computer or a computer like device, let me know quick. Otherwise, they’re headed for the trash.

Anyone want Gmail?
Most of us with Blogger accounts have already signed up for Gmail if we were interested, but if anyone out there DOESN’T have one, and wants, leave me a comment. I’ve got TWO invites to give out, and I’ll send them to the first couple of people who convince me. 🙂
As reported already by Betsy, we were surprised and amazed at some of the stuff we found yesterday at Southern Season. They had “Not Cool” hot sauce on sale for 99 cents each, my favorite hot sauce in the world. If you like it hot and flavorful, I highly recommend the Chocolate Habenero…it is hot (according to this comparison, 225,000 scoville units) but it’s got a great coffee/chocolate flavor underneath.
