Evidently the ALA has partnered with ebrary to make the contents of American Libraries available electronically. Of course, that’s only true for ALA members….who already get the publication in print anyway.

As an ALA member, I get American Libraries, yes, but as an international ALA member, I get it a full three months after publication thanks to the perils of sea mail. AL is a news magazine, and a good chunk of its content is out of date by the time I receive it. so it’s good to get it a little earlier, although I really just wish ALA would have an option for internatinal members to pay a couple of dollars more to get first class air mail.
Very true. I wonder how many ALA members are in your shoes.
Of course, making American Libraries an open publication would solve the issue as well.
